Rogue’s Hamster Babies – Day 14

We have seen one with his eyes open, the others are still walking around blind. They are enjoying eating hamster food & veg a lot!

LUCKY & LUCKIER MAY 25 2010 (DAY # 3) – RESCUED BABY SPARROWS.

On Saturday, May 22nd 2010 we found 4 little baby sparrows under a wood pile that were abandoned. One baby had been apparently mauled by a cat, another was dead from starvation most likely, and the other 2 seemed barely alive. They were probably only a day old at the most and were completely bald and their eyes were still closed. I did some research on the internet to see how I could help them. I keep them in a dish lined with cotton batting, and cloth for cushion and softness. I set their “nest” on a heating pad and keep it on low. Just warm enough to make their nest cozy and warm but not cooking the little guys. I am also feeding them baby food from an eye dropper almost every hour on the hour (except for at night). I bought beef in broth baby food and mixed it with Fruit baby food so that they get their carbs and their protein. I water it down so that it is giving them the liquid that they need too. In the 3 days since we got them, they have really come a long way. They are much stronger and seem very healthy now. They sleep lots, eat lots, poop lots, and when they are awake, they chirp and try to move around. They are now opening their eyes and stretching their wings. They are also starting to grow some feathers. This video was taken this morning after they finished eating and they went back to sleep. They love cuddling up to each other.
